Message So my neighbour was kind enough to give me four door dings on my drivers rear quarter panel. Two of them are minor and didn't break the paint, 1 was very bad and took the paint off down to the metal, and the other scratched the paint pretty bad.

I talked to him and he said to take it somewhere to get an estimate.

I got an estimate from a reputable shop for ~900 to fix the damage. That would include sanding down to the metal, fixing the dings, applying primer, new paint, and sealant. He would take off the rear bumper, quarter window molding, and door handle and blend into the drivers door and to the back of the rear quarter panel.

I've got a few options:
1. Have the shop do the repair and paint blending... risking possibility of paint not matching (20 year old super white paint)
2. Get the money from my neighbor and put it towards a completely new paintjob in a year or so, and just put some touchup paint on it for now and deal with it.

My current paint job is pretty nice and I don't have many dings/dents other then the rock guard having chips and starting to yellow.

Does anybody have experience with something similar or have suggestions?

Thanks.
